How is my APS score calculated?

Your APS (Admission Point Score) is calculated by adding together the achievement levels for your best six matric subjects, excluding Life Orientation.

Achievement levels:

Example: If you got 75% English, 68% Maths, 55% Physical Science, 62% Life Sciences, 70% History and 48% Geography, your APS = 6 + 5 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 3 = 29.

Note that some universities use a slightly different calculation — always check the specific institution's prospectus.
